The Salewa Alpine-X Ice Axe is a lightweight hybrid ice axe for mountaineering. Its ergonomic shape makes it comfortable to use on both ascents and descents. Its strong, aggressive 3mm steel blade bites through snow and ice with ease. With its sharpened adze for cutting steps and chopping ledges as well as its straight shaft for plunging and secure belay construction, the Alpine-X Ice Axe is best suited for high-altitude mountaineering of all kinds. The tips of the axe are replaceable and the holes on the head and at the bottom of the shaft make it easy to hang the axe from a carabiner. The ice axe is compatible with the self-locking Salewa hand rest as well.
